One of the most important benefits of buying custom jewellery is the fact that the jeweller takes the time to get to know the individual, the reason they are buying a particular piece of jewellery and most importantly the message they want to convey.
The customer experiences top-notch customer service and the attention to detail is unparalleled if you go to the right places. It was earlier this year that I was travelling around Europe and I met a really friendly couple who were just recently married. The young woman was wearing really pretty earrings that caught my eye. I asked her about it and wasn’t surprised to learn that it was custom made. More importantly, it was custom made by a local jeweller.
I made it a point to visit this place as I was heading to the city anyway, and I must say that I was in no way disappointed with what I saw. Visiting Yvonne Wild was a real eye opener. Since we were going to be in the vicinity for a week, my fiancee and I decided to order custom diamond rings for our wedding. We weren’t let down, not in the least.
Most people are of the opinion that custom jewellery is a lot more expensive than off-the-rack pieces. But they couldn’t be farther from the truth. Of course brand name is going to play an important role here, but on the whole, it’s certain that custom pieces are cheaper since they cut off middlemen and do not have to be designed in a way to please all prospects.
Would I ever buy jewellery that is not custom made ever again? Definitely! To me custom jewellery is special and I’d go that route only for special occasions.
I doubt there’s a single person who has worn suits and disagrees that tailor made suits are the best. You don’t just look great in them, they are a perfect fit which makes them the most comfortable suiting option. Moreover, you’re going to find yourself feeling more confident than ever before. Yes, clothing does also affect your self-esteem.
But you need to be smart when you buy your custom tailored suit. If you buy from any Tom Dick and Harry you may end up with the worst piece of clothing you’ve ever seen, forget about comparing it to the suits you’ve previously worn. Tailoring is an art; an art that all tailors haven’t mastered. Getting the perfect cuts and seams that make up a suit is a whole different ball game which only tailors of the highest calibre have mastered.
To keep things simple you could argue that you’re at peace with buying an off-the-rack suit, but are you really? There’s no way you can compare one of those to a tailor-made suit which has been specifically crafted to fit YOUR body. But don’t take my word for it, you barely know me (maybe not at all?). Talk to your friends and do some research online.
There’s this awesome infographic from Realmenrealstyle.com which showcases every important aspect of the “perfect” suit. Does your suit fit all these norms? You can check out the infographic below:
But Off-The-Rack is Quicker and Cheaper
Yes, that’s true. Buying a suit off the rack is definitely a cheaper option and you could always get it altered. But, no matter how much you alter a suit, it’s never going to fit your body perfectly. There’s this void which can never be filled.
Visiting a tailor to get yourself measured isn’t going to take you a hell lot of time. How often do you need to buy a new suit? It’s not like you’re going to the store every other month. If you see this visit as a sacrifice of your time, it’s well worth it!
Now let’s get to the other point in question – price. Yes, tailor made suits are definitely a bit more pricey than ready to buy pieces. But this small difference could make or break a corporate deal. Do you want to take that risk?
On the other hand, there are plenty of travelling tailors and online stores where you can order a custom made suit. I personally prefer to visit a tailor in person to get my measurements, but for those of you looking for an easier option, without sacrificing on the quality, you’d be better off ordering online. They teach you how to measure yourself and send them the measurements via an online form – as simple as that.
My Pick: Senszio, they are the best when it comes to bespoke suits in Chicago. I’ve spent years buying off-the-rack, but I’ll never make that mistake again.
Reasons to Opt for a Custom Made Suit
We’ve already checked out some of the many reasons why a custom tailored suit outperforms their ready-to-buy counterparts, but let’s just focus on the 2 main reasons you should not buy “easy”:
It’s definitely better to order a custom made suit with a lower quality fabric if the price is too much of an issue when compared to buying an off-the-rack suit that costs a similar price using a more expensive material. Of course, you’re going to want to make sure that the material is good enough to last a while and more importantly it should look good on you.
Plenty of Style Options
Since you’re going to the tailors, why not take it an extra step and customise your suit to your liking? All the top tailors are going to offer you a booklet with modern styles and cuts for you to pick from.
Shawls aren’t just the typical clothing accessory. Originating from the Middle East, the word “shawl” was used to describe a piece of fabric that drapes over the shoulders and arms. Today, the word can refer to many different styles, materials, and designs.
Whether you are new to shawls or just dropping by for some fashion advice, this guide will help you find the perfect shawl, the one that would transform your everyday outfit while at the same time be extremely comfortable.
Shawls may be considered accessories, but the truth is that a shawl can change the entire tone of an outfit from plain simple to classy and chic. That is why the color or pattern chosen for a shawl is a very important part of the selection process.
If you’re not really sure what works best it is suggested that you start with neutral colors because they are a good match with every outfit. Brightly colored shawls on the other hand, can add an exciting focus point to an otherwise neutral or basic outfit.
A shawl with an intricate pattern can also be a beautiful choice for the more experienced shopper. As far as patterns are concerned, a plaid shawl can be a nice choice for the winter while a bright floral shawl can be wonderful on a summer or spring evening.
Because shawls are such a versatile accessory, it is practical to have a few variations in your wardrobe so as to have options for every outfit, occasion and season.
Other than the design of the shawl it is also important to look its material. Shawls are made in all sorts of materials, some are going to be light, some heavy; some smooth on your skin while the others are rough; there are going to be shawls made of wool for winter nights or soft silk/cotton for the summer. My personal favorite is the velvet shawl.
Prices vary a lot too. Everything right from pricey cashmeres and silk which are soft and will bring glam to your outfit to the warm woolen shawls and affordable cotton pieces. Like any garment, most shawls will not be made from a single material, but from a blend of materials which can affect the price and the appearance of the shawl.
You can find lots of shawls online with a range of prices, styles and designers or you can buy them at your favorite fashion store where you can pick and feel them while choosing your perfect shawl.
No matter which shawl you decide to buy; the fabric, color and style isn’t everything. The way you choose to wear it is the most important. So get out there get your shawl and wear it with confidence and a smile.
